Top Ten Tuesday: Latest 5* Reads

A Little Life

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday, run by the wonderful The Broke and the Bookish, was a little bit harder for me. 5* means to me they have really stood out in my mind and I haven’t forgotten them over time. So, here they are, recent 5* reads, albeit some not that recent!

1) Evil Librarian

2) The Dreamsnatcher

3) We All Looked Up

4) The Year of the Rat

5) The Glory

6) The Faith Series by Candy Harper

If you enjoyed the diaries of Georgia Nicholson you will absolutely love this series! Follow the life of Faith, a teenager whose life is filled with awkward moments and sarcastic comments.

7) Denton’s Little Deathdate by Lance Rubin

This was an original concept that I hadn’t come across before in YA – everyone knows the day that they will die and Denton’s deathdate is unfortunately the same day as senior prom. I cannot wait for the next one to come out, ‘Denton’s Little Birthdate’ which is out next week!

8) A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

This is a bit of a change for me as I tend to stick to YA and don’t often read adult books. It was quite slow paced compared to my usual read but I persevered and I am so glad I did. I fell slowly in love with the story and then at the end it broke my heart!

9) Girl Up by Louise Bates

I recently did a review of this book (check it out here) so I won’t rave about it too much except to say ‘OMG IT IS SO, SO GOOD!’. A must read for any woman!

10) Tinder by Sally Gardener

This beautifully produced book is filled with eerie illustrations (created by the super talented David Roberts) and was deservedly shortlisted for the Carnegie and Kate Greenaway. If you haven’t yet, check it out as it is not one to be missed.
